Just a few miles south of the City of Hamilton, you will find the town of Mount Hope. This town is a mixture of sprawling rural homesteads and urban residential communities, blending country life with city life. The majority of the homes in this area are single family dwellings. There is a combination of older homes built prior to 1960 as well as many newer homes in the area.

The average age of people living in this neighbourhood is 30-44 years old. According to the census, 52% of the households in this neighbourhood are families with children.
Mount Hope is also home to Hamilton’s John C. Munro International Airport and the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. With this handy airport serving the community, travel is very convenient for local residents.

The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum was founded in 1972 and its purpose is to acquire, document, preserve and maintain aircraft that were flown by Canadians from the beginning of the second World War up to the present. There are approximately 50 aircraft in the museum plus a collection of books, manuals, artifacts and other documents. One of the local favourite Canadian aircrafts is the Lancaster.
Eileen Vollick was Canada’s first licensed woman pilot and a plaque in her honor is proudly displayed outside the museum.
Mount Hope is home to the Willow Valley Golf Course on English Church Road, the Southern Pines Golf and Country Club on Airport Road and the Chippewa Creek Golf and Country Club on Chippewa Road West, it is also a short drive to Glancaster Golf and Country Club on Glancaster Road, making it a perfect location for golf enthusiasts.

Southern Pines Golf and Country Club prides itself on maintaining a personal family feel while offering the latest in technology and amenities.

The Hamilton Public Library – Mount Hope Branch is located at 3027 Homestead Drive. The building was built in 1904 and its original purpose was to house the Glanford Township Council. It is a beautiful reminder of the early development of the community of Mount Hope and it’s citizens.

Behind the library, you will find the Mount Hope Park and Youth Centre. The park contains a public tennis court and a baseball diamond, along with a play structure, swings, and spring toys. Along the outskirts of the park, there is a paved walking trail to get your steps in – there are also various places to stop and add some strength training to your walks.
Mount Hope Elementary School on Airport Road serves the junior kindergarten to Grade 8 students in the area.
If you are interested in a property in this area, please search here for the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board and here for the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board to confirm the schools in your catchment.
Kinderseeds is a unique educational child care centre. Their focus is on learning while enhancing the child’s self esteem and independence.

There are other social and athletic activities available in Mount Hope for adults and children, including the Glanford Curling Club and the Cameron Speedway and Amusements park which includes activities such as go-karting, paintball, rock climbing and laser tag.

Located right in the center of Mount Hope, The Pigeon is well known for their take-out food, especially their fried chicken sandwiches. I highly recommend the delicious truffle fries. Salads and deserts are also available.
The Wing is another gathering spot in Mount Hope, serving up food, drinks and live music.
