The City of Hamilton is such an amazing community for artists. The ability for artists to live sustainably in our city means the ongoing success of the cultural community.
The Arts Advisory Commission of the City of Hamilton (AAC) hosted a day-long event in April 2017 convening members of Hamilton’s arts and cultural community to discuss Hamilton’s cultural revival and identify steps to ensure the ongoing success of local artists and their organizations.
Public Art was identified as an area of growing strength in terms of municipal support for local artists. An increasing number of significant public art commissions by professional artists has served to reinforce the City’s support of local and regional artists in their Public Art program.
One of the outcomes of this day long event was the creating of Public Art Projects. These beautiful works of art have begun all around our city and public parks in the forms of statues, murals and even park benches. Have you seen any of these in your neighbourhood?
Hamilton’s art community continues to be a strong contributor to the City of Hamilton’s growth and advancement, which has resulted in a heightened appreciation for the arts.
