The majority of the homes in this area are single family dwellings and were built between 1981-1990. The average age of people living in this neighbourhood is 30-44 years old. According to the census, 35% of the households in this neighbourhood are families with children.

Timothy Christian School is a private Christian school located at 430 East 25th Street which first opened its doors in 1973 to serve the community.
Burkholder Park is located at 478 East 25th Street (adjacent to Timothy Christian School). The playground is located on the north side of the park and the south side of the park is open green space.

Take a Book – Return a Book – At the entrance to Burkholder Park on East 25th Street, you will find a “Little Free Library”. Little Free Library is a global nonprofit organization that inspires a love of reading and offers the community a chance to take, return and donate books in their little libraries.

Franklin Road School was built in 1953, is located at the corner of Franklin Road and Upper Sherman. The school was remodelled in 2003 and went from serving Junior Kindergarten to Grade 5 to now serving students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. It currently educates approximately 360 students each year.

Walmart Hamilton (Country Fair) Store is located at Upper Sherman Ave and Mohawk Road East.
The Hamilton Fire Department Station 4 is located at 729 Upper Sherman Avenue, and although it isn’t directly in the Burkholme neighbourhood, it is close and could be advantageous to residents in the area, possibility saving money on home insurance.

The City of Hamilton encourages cycling is a means of transportation within the City. Cycling as a form of transportation helps address environmental issues such as pollution, climate change, as well as improving the cyclists health through physical activity.
Throughout the City, there are off-road multi use paths, on-street dedicated bike lanes and on-street signed bike routes to serve both recreational and commuter cyclists. In the Burkholme neighbourhood, you will find signed on-street bike routes on roads with low traffic volume for cyclists making it convenient to bike to Mohawk College, Sam Lawrence Park and Limeridge Road, to name a few.
